How does the compression work?
Each page is rendered to an image at a resolution and JPEG quality you choose, then packed into a new PDF. This is very effective for scanned or image-heavy PDFs.
Will the text still be selectable?
Because pages are rasterized to hit a target size, text becomes part of the page image. If you need selectable text preserved, keep the quality high or use the lightest compression level.
What's the best setting for emailing a document?
Start with 'Balanced' at 120 DPI. If it's still too large, drop to 'Small' at 96 DPI — most scans stay perfectly readable.
