Timestamp Converter

Unix epoch to human dates, and back.

Runs 100% in your browser — nothing is uploaded

Convert between Unix timestamps and human-readable dates in your browser. See any timestamp in local, UTC, and ISO 8601 formats with a relative time, and turn a date and time back into seconds or milliseconds. Accepts seconds or ms; nothing is uploaded.

How to use timestamp converter

  1. Open the tool and provide the text, number, date, or file it asks for.
  2. Choose the format, mode, or settings that match the result you need.
  3. Review the result in the preview or output area.
  4. Copy the answer or download the finished file when it looks right.

Unix, WebKit, and Chrome timestamp formats

Unix timestamps count from 1970-01-01 00:00:00 UTC. Seconds are common in APIs and databases, while JavaScript Date values are usually milliseconds. WebKit and Chrome timestamps use microseconds from 1601-01-01 00:00:00 UTC, the Windows FILETIME epoch. Choosing the correct mode matters because the same digits can otherwise produce a date thousands of years away from the intended value.

Use Unix mode for epoch seconds or milliseconds and WebKit / Chrome mode for browser history, Chromium databases, and FILETIME-style values. The converter displays local time, UTC, ISO 8601, and a relative value so you can check both the instant and the unit. When moving data between systems, document the unit beside the number instead of relying on its length alone.

Worked example: Example: a WebKit value is converted by subtracting the 1601 epoch and dividing microseconds by 1,000 to obtain JavaScript milliseconds.
